Joe Madison

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Joe Madison. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Joe dedicated his life to fighting for all those who are undervalued, underestimated, and marginalized. On air he often posed the question, “What are you going to do about it?”. Although he is no longer with us, we hope you will join us in answering that call by continuing to be proactive in the fight against injustice. The outpouring of prayers and support over the last few months lifted Joe’s spirits and strengthened us as a family. We continue to ask for privacy as we gather together to support each other through this difficult time.

The Madison Family

Joe Madison, The Black Eagle, was an award-winning morning talk show host. Madison talked about politics and social activism. In June of 2022, SiriusXM announced that veteran broadcaster, Joe Madison had signed a new multi-year deal to continue hosting Joe Madison the Black Eagle exclusively on SiriusXM. The program aired weekdays from 6:00-10:00 a.m. ET on Urban View channel 126 and was also available on the SXM App. In addition, under the new agreement, Madison discussed the news of the day from his Washington, DC studio.

In addition to being a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame, Madison was a civil rights activist, former national political director of the NAACP, and author. He used his SiriusXM program to raise the voices of oppressed people and to challenge himself and his listeners to do something about injustices in the world.

“Joe’s legacy of work speaks for itself,” SiriusXM President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein said in the announcement. “Joe was a leader and a motivator who inspired his audience to raise their voices and get involved.

Rest In Peace, Joe Madison
